When you are just starting to get in touch with digital implant scanning, you are always confused by terms like "Scanpost", "Scanbody" and "Inpost". Today we will help you to sort out your thoughts through this article, so that you can be clear and understand the implant scanning system!
Scanpost: Transfer of the implant position to the digital restoration software. Acts as a connection to the implant and is only used in the scanning phase.
Scanbody: Determine the orientation of the implant in the oral cavity in the digital model.
TiBase: Connection of implant and prosthesis to form a personalized implant superstructure restoration.
Scanpost, the function is equivalent to that of a transfer bar used for traditional implant impression taking. Some brands can be used independently, some need to be used together with the scanning cap again. It is usually made of metal or PEEK and can be sterilized at a high level. It will wear out after multiple uses and affect the accuracy, so it needs to be used according to the manufacturer's recommendations.
Scanbody, assembled together with Tibase or Scanpost, it is recognized by the software through its own specific geometry to determine the orientation of the implant in the oral cavity in the digital model, which is commonly made of PEEK and is single-use.
TiBase, Connects implants and restorations to form personalized abutments or one-piece crowns. It can also be used as a personalized scanbody and can act as a scanpost on the model.
